| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Technivorm is Europe's leading manufacture of quality coffee brewers, sanctioned by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE), the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), and the European Coffee Brewing Centre (ECBC). Technivorm success is based on commitment to research and building, by hand, these superb brewers since 1964. " ... If you must buy an automatic drip machine, this is the one. Though pricey, it's the only drip coffee maker that hit optimal temperatures for brewing and serving in our tests. It's also fast and very simple to operate, and pieces disassemble easily for cleaning." Cook's Illustrated - Sep/Oct 2009.

| Customer Reviews: Simply the BEST...Better Than All the Rest! August 19, 2010 Mr. Bean (NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This coffee maker brews the best tasting coffee I have ever tried.
The brew time is fast, the water temperature is just under 200 degrees which is the prime temp for extracting the most flavor from the coffee. The higher temp also is great for coffee drinkers who add milk or cream to their coffee because the beverage is still hot after adding the milk.
I have owned many coffee makers including a Bunn and Aeropress. Both of these make great coffee, but coffee made with the Technivorm has a better taste/flavor. I roast my own beans and this coffee maker truly allows you to experiemce the great flavor from freshly roasted beans. I also have a Mr. Coffee cappuccino/latte/ expresso maker which I had enjoyed, but I use it much less now because of the great flavor from the Technivorm. Plus the Aeropress and Mr. Coffee espresso maker are more labor intensive and required more clean up. I still like the aeropress for when we go on trips.
I have a thermal carafe that I pour the coffee into after it brews in the Technivorm. If you leave the coffee in the pot, there is one small inconvenience when setting the coffee pot back on the hotplate after you pour a cup of coffee. The filter basket fits into a holder. The holder is not made strong enough to hold the coffee basket after the water passes through the basket. It just sags a little and this interferes with placing the coffee pot back on the warmer. If you lift the holder, or better yet remove the grounds before you take the first cup, there is no problem. I use 10 standard size scoops of coffee for each 10 cup pot so perhaps I am causing the problem with so much coffee. I do not use the measuring scoop that came with the unit. I grind my coffee on medium and this provides the optimal taste for me.
I have used the coffee maker for over a month and have not had to descale it yet and the unit shows no signs of any scale build up which I was expecting because of the hard water in our town.
The unit is definitely pricey, but we LOVE the coffee it makes and cannot wait to enjoy a cup (or 2 or 3) every morning. It blows away the coffee you can get anyplace else. I drink my coffee black and enjoy the changes in taste as the coffee cools.
My wife likes iced coffee and I brewed some stronger coffee and added it to a mug with ice cubes and cream. She said it tasted awesome.
Perfect coffee every time March 9, 2010 TexaSteve (Texas) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was hunting for a good coffee maker to complement my Bodum french press, since I do not enjoy pressing a pot (And cleaning it up) in the morning. I can say the Technivorm was definitely the right answer! The coffee is as good if not better than the press pot (No grounds in the bottom of the cup) and much easier to clean (No grounds in the bottom of the pot!)
This coffee maker does exactly one thing: Make a great cup of coffee. It brews pretty quickly and is even fun to watch percolate. I also looked at the thermal carafe version of this maker, however it appears there are gripes with the lip of the thermal carafe (A too wide pour) and the topper design, so I decided basic glass was my friend and so far it absolutely has been! The one spill I had was entirely my fault, otherwise it fills the cup with no dripping.
I would definitely recommend this coffeemaker to friends who have the money for it and the desire to buy one coffeemaker for life. It does NOT disappoint!
