Can't wait to try it on induction cooktop July 10, 2010 S. Wood (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy to clean, beautiful design, fun to watch it brewing with the lid up! Lots of crema. Very compact to just leave out all the time. Such a great idea, I wish I'd had this long ago.
It does take awhile on my coiled electric cooktop because you have to place the pot off-center on the burner. It generally takes about 8-9 minutes from the time you put on the heat.
BUT... we will be replacing our range with an induction cooktop (magnetic - heats the cookware directly if a magnet will stick to the bottom of the pot. Always test potential cookware with a magnet or make sure it states that it is induction compatible if buying online) and boiling water is supposed to take 1/2 the time on induction.
Can't wait to try this on induction!
Note that it is a "6 shot" size, don't expect it to be 6 actual coffee cups' worth of espresso. An adapter is included to make half the amount, but I haven't tried that.
Great product! January 20, 2010 Winnie (Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this based on the other reviews. I was pretty sceptical, but glad I made the purchase because I love this espresso maker. I don't know why anyone would buy a machine over this stovetop maker. The product looks great, is good quality stainless steel and the taste rivals the Starbucks espresso I was buying every day. Obviously, you have to buy good quality espresso. I have been using Lavazza Rossa and Lavazza Il Perfetto Espresso, both of which are delicious. I'd like to try some of the other blends by Lavazza. I am thrilled with this espresso maker.
Works beautifully and is very attractive. January 18, 2010 Nancy A. (Carmel Valley, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved this espresso maker. I got it as a gift to replace an aluminum espresso maker. It makes great expresso and we loved the adjustable feature. The only down side to this coffee maker is that you can't hang onto the handle while screwing or unscrewing the bottom piece without risking breaking off the handle. It doesn't reflect directly on the coffee making, but makes it a bit more difficult or clumsy to set up and to clean after use.
This Pot Rocks ! October 8, 2009 lady liberty (Florida, USA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Cuisinox Roma 6-cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Espresso Maker
i've had this espresso maker for a few months now & it is Spectacular & worth every penney ! ( never thought i'd be gushing over an espresso maker - in fact, i almost never review prodcuts myself, though i read them thoroughly before making purchases - but here i am . . lol )
If you've used stovetop espresso makers in the past, i think you'll find its performance Exemplary & if you haven't, the web makes it very simple to learn. Best of all, this pot makes it Fun.
PROS : really substantial construction
sleek, elegant design - eye candy ! lol
( this product is amasing actually . . i'm a sucker for things aesthetically & materially Well Done & this pot ROCKS - makes me happy everytime i look at it ! )
25 YEAR warranty ( how often do you see THAT ??!!! )
delivers lovely cups of espresso in no time, with no mess ( and you can watch it happen - doesn't spurt all over with the top up so you can )
comes with an insert that allows the option of 3 espresso sized cups if you so choose ( about 3/4 cup total ), in addition to its normal 6 cup / 1 1/2 cup capacity
comes with an extra gasket as well
looks as Beautiful after alot of use as it did out of the box
CONS: Zero that i can see
It may seem pricey at first but if you love espresso & want something that is just lovely to look at AND that will last, this is definitely the way to go. ( We have used stovetop espresso makers for years & this one trumps all i've come across. The aluminum ones end up looking crummy in no time, plus you really don't want aluminum in your body if you can help it & coffee is a known acidic. And the stainless steel on this one, is not a flimsy layer that's going to wear off. In fact, i just sent this to my daughter for her birthday. She loves to entertain and this makes a lovely impression whether for one or for guests. You definitely won't want to hide this away. )
This product is apparently made by a Canadian company but IN China according to the literature that accompanies it - which speaks Volumes for company oversight in terms of quality control & definitely not the usual made in China purchase you wish you'd passed by.
Ok, have i gushed enough yet ?? lol
Cuisinox, Take a Bow !!!!!
Cuisinox Roma February 5, 2009 M. Edmond (CT) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Makes a very good stovetop cup of espresso. Better than I had expected.
A hefty and nice quailty item - extra gasket especially nice - and it is a lovey looking pot. If using it on gas stove, use a "flame tamer" (a metal disk to cover grate)and be careful of the handle - it gets hot. This has not been an issue for me. I use a pot holder to take it off the heat and after about a minute I can pick it up by the handle with my hands.
