Super Frother! July 18, 2010 T. OGrady-Walsh (Washington D.C.) Perfect Frother! It more than doubles the milk volume. And it's easily stored in a small drawer--nice and compact. This is exactly what I was looking for. I treat it like a wine glass and have had no problems with breakage. I fill to max-capacity line and have no spills. I heat after frothing as the directions say and have no issues with the temps.
glass breaks extremely easily and no warranty February 23, 2010 Hiking Fool (Oregon) This is a great device for steaming milk in the microwave and frothing it for a latte except for the fact you will need to replace the glass chamber about every two months at 15 to 20 dollars a pop. I love this device but when I called Bodum they would only give me a one time replacement chamber. They said there is no warranty and that the replacement chamber was for only the one time. It is easy enough to just put the steamed milk in a jar and shake it up.
Works great but shattered after 5 days January 4, 2010 M. G. Pollock (Redmond, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We owned this little gadget for all of 5 days before it tipped over on the counter and shattered upon impact with our countertop. What a total bummer. When we first got it I did think it seemed tippy; it's quite tall and skinny, and doesn't have any kind of base or foundation like other Bodum glass containers, which would have helped stabilize it more.
For those five days, though, it did make very good foam in 30 seconds, as promised. I checked Bodum's site and they sell extra glass containers for $10. Obviously they must know how easily this thing breaks. Not sure why it needs to be glass; it could be plastic and wouldn't make a difference on performance or looks.
Didn't spring for the $10 extra glass beaker. I'll just think of this a $20 mistake.
Great product November 10, 2009 Brenda Kaye Shelley (Worthington, Ohio) You too can make a great cappuccino at home. I cannot live without the Milk Frother and buy two at a time. The glass is fragile and sometimes there are mishaps so I am never without one.
Good, used to be better November 9, 2009 H. Bareiss (MI, USA) I have owned several of these frothers over the years. The first 2 were incredible, easily 5-star products. The company cut corners by changing the design of the plunger. Initially there were 2 screens in the plunger. It quickly made very thick lush foamy milk. Later the design was changed to a single screen. It still does a good job of foaming but not as good as before. I have found the electric frothers don't work as well either. I am very careful with the carafe, since it is breakable glass. I recommend that the carafe NOT go into the dishwasher. The black markings fade quickly with repeated washings. It is so easy to wash by hand, why bother?
