This cute handheld milk frother is fun and easy to use; British celebrity chef Nigella Lawson recommends it over steam-driven frothers. Plus, in addition to its most popular use--creating delicate foam for homemade cappuccinos, lattes, or hot chocolates-- the Aerolatte milk frother can be used for other, equally yummy treats. An enclosed recipe sheet offers ideas for fruit "shakes" and coffee frappes that can be made with any kind of cow, goat, sheep, soy or rice milk! Some restaurant chefs even froth milk to foam garnish earthy soups. The frother is easy to use, with a simple black toggle button to turn it on. Hold the stainless steel head just below foam level to keep froth building. The shape of the steel-toned, satin-finished handle is curved in the right places and flattened on the sides for a comfortable grip. When it's time to replace the batteries, a black ridged cover slides off to reveal the battery chamber. (It's important to use alkaline batteries with the Aerolatte milk frother.) To clean, turn the frother on and dip the whisk in hot soapy water; rinse well, and turn again briefly to spin dry. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth; do not immerse handle in water. The whisk is not removable from the battery handle. The milk frother measures 8-1/2 by 1-1/2 inches. Two AA alkaline batteries are included, as well as a recipe and instruction sheet. Ok - I just got the Aerolatte Milk Frother, and I love it! It is so easy, and makes instant froth, that lasts for quite a long time (longer than the steamed froth in Starbucks I would say). You can use hot milk (unlike some of the other frothers) and can use whole milk or skim milk (and a few other types of milk the directions said). It is such a good little gadget, and for $17 you can't really beat it.
Of course, I can't comment on the battery life yet, but will update accordingly! Pictures to come as well!

The item arrived dead. Changed batteries but no luck. The battery compartment appeared bigger than battery size because I could feel the batteries moving inside if I shook it. Don't know how a steady power connection can be maintained with such quality of design/manufacturing.
Thought of giving it a second chance and asked for a replacement. Amazon re-sent it via overnight shipping which arrived the very next day (5 star to Amazon).
THE REPLACEMENT WAS DOA AS WELL!!! SAME LOOSE CONNECTION!!!
Returning for refund this time. Would give -ve rating if possible.

This little gadget works as well as it says it does.
The design is nice and streamlined, it takes up hardly any space at all in the drawer.
I've just rinsed it with hot water after each use and this is all the cleaning it appears to need.
For some reason reading many reviews left me wondering if it would froth hot milk. I have used this to froth cold milk, warm milk, hot milk, whole milk, 1% milk, all frothed in mere seconds.
This, along with my bialetti moka maker, produce a very decent cappuccino.
I don't know how long the batteries will last, but a couple batteries now and then are not going to be a deal breaker on this item, in my opinion.
Buy with confidence, and frankly for the price you cannot go wrong.
