Product Description The best of coffee culture in one convenient package. Eliminating all the strenuous steps of conventional espresso/cappuccino machines tamping, hot filters and stubborn sieves this all-in-one center lets you pour in the coffee, switch on the pump and enjoy! One-year warranty. Model 121.
Amazon.com Review By eliminating the usual fuss and mess, this 1,200-watt machine makes it easy to brew espresso and make cappuccinos and lattes at home or in the office. It's semiautomatic because all that's required is to fill the water tank, place ground coffee into a receptacle, and pull a lever. Within seconds coffee flows from the double spout, which adjusts for different cup heights, into one or two cups. No tamping is required because the machine tamps the coffee precisely and automatically. Nor is it necessary to clean used coffee grounds out of a messy filter holder, because there is no filter holder, and the machine automatically discards grounds into a waste tray. The tray also catches overflows, and a light shows when it needs emptying. For steaming and frothing milk to make cappuccinos, lattes, and hot chocolates and for delivering hot water for tea, there's a wand that rotates out to fit inside a pitcher or cup. The coffee receptacle accepts 7 to 15 grams (one or two fillings of the included scoop), and the powerful pump supplies enough hot water each time to fill cups from 1-1/2 ounces to 12 ounces, which means it will make a big mug of regular coffee as well as an espresso. The 53-ounce water tank is transparent for water-level monitoring. Water heats quickly thanks to the 1,200-watt heating coil, and a thermostat light shows when the water is hottest. The machine has internal storage for the power cord and comes with clear instructions, drink recipes, and a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

I love this machine, no wait I hate this machine July 21, 2010 Z. Basha (Washington, DC USA) The first brand-new machine did not froth, so Amazon sent a replacement and that one worked for a while. I have owned this machine for 18 months and have made probably over 1,000 shots. It's a great machine, brilliant rotating eject system with built in tamper. Very convenient. 2 months ago, it started leaking from the bottom onto the counter tops and in addition, the primary gasket failed. Fair enough, things happen. I call Capresso, they say a repair -all in- inclusive of shipping is $80, also reasonable. It's really a swap with a re-furb, you do not get your original machine back.
The repair comes in -- frother doesn't work. I call them back and they replace again. Guess what? Frother doesn't work, again!
I like the machine a lot, but no one should have to deal with a 75% out-of-the-box defect rate and a major failure after 18 months. The product is nicely designed, but poorly built and has very poor repair quality control.
I can not recommend it.
This manufacturer does not stand by the product June 9, 2010 Shahram Nikpay Bought this product on June 8th 2009. The handle on the crousel is made from plastic and it was broken in few months. Called customer service and to my amazement and without any shame, the customer service let me know that the carousel is not warrantied. 1st time for me in America. How can these unethical folks can get away with this behavior? I have never written a review, but here is my 1st one.
So the product ended up in the garbage.
Seattle coffee drinker June 1, 2010 J. hill (North of Seattle) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife & I have had several coffee/espresso makers over 30 years. We were coffee drinkers before it became popular here in the greater Seattle area. However, this is the most I have ever spent on a coffee/espresso maker. We have had this espresso machine now since January 2010, today is June 1, 2010. A period of time with everyday use is the best judge of any product. This product takes very little skill to make a great cup of coffee, easy to use, easy to clean. After the first week, we placed our drip coffee maker in storage. We thought at first we would use both drip/espresso coffee makers. Forget it! Ditch the drip machine! This machine makes as good or better espresso than what we can buy from our local coffee stand. I have made cofffee/espresso for friends & relatives and they like the coffee way better than drip. We never spent over $100 on a machine until we bought this, but if you like coffee it is well worth the expense for the latte's this machine produces. Use a fine grind for best results.
If you make regular stops for coffee (we never have) you could pay for this in 5 months. That is; 5 coffee stops a week X 20 average a month X $3 a cup = $60. Cost to buy $299 divided by 60 = 5 months. For a single stop for 1 person a day, so double the benifit for 2 people makes the break even point in 2 1/2 months.
I highly recomend this great product.
good in the begining... May 31, 2010 Faisal Sheikh ive had this machine for 3 years... the first one i got had a defective frother and they sent me a new machine.. then it worked pretty well until the frother died on me again and it was no longer covered under warranty. so i had to buy a stand alone frother. then recently the turning mechanism broke on me.. it just popped right off and its about 100 dollars to fix.. im replacing it with a nespresso machine.
but during the time the espresso machine was working it tasted great.
faulty machine, horrible service May 5, 2010 Sabine Huemer (Los Angeles) Our machine broke four times within the first few months with careful use. Customer service is rude (Mr. Rodriguez, Colleen,...) and refuses to send replacement while the machine is being repaired yet again. If you're not prepared to go two week stretches without coffeemaker, then do NOT buy this machine.
